Thanksgiving Day

We had a really great Thanksgiving.
Doug's parents are out of the country and his family wasn't doing anything and it was the in laws turn on my families side (meaning the year we would all go to our in laws houses for the holiday) so we were just going to be doing our own thing the way we used to.
But then I decided to ask my mom if they wanted to get together.
She said yes and invited us to come down to their house.
She took care of most of the dinner, asking me to just bring an apple pie and a broccoli casserole.
We spent the morning in our usual routine: I got a newspaper and a mountain dew (the one time a year I drink one), made chex mix and our special sausage breakfast muffins (the only time of year we have both things so it feels really special) and we watched the parade on television.
After the parade was done we all got ready and drove down to my parents' house.
I took the new apron I made so my mom got a turn wearing it as well.

Abi and Maddy were so excited to be going to their favorite place!
Maddy took some of her Shopkins to play with and loved showing them to Grandma.

Abe fell in love with the little ornaments on an advent calendar my mom made when I was little. I have always wanted to have one just like it (not that I NEED any more advent activities...) and I was so excited when she told me she still had the pattern. Needless to say, my last week has been spent making another advent calendar. Pictures to come soon.

Soon it was time to go into the Dining Room for dinner.

We had a great dinner.
It was a lot of fun.
After dinner we hung out for a couple hours and then wrote our letters to Santa.
We brought our magic mailbox along so we could do our letters with Grandma and Grandpa.
The girls put on their jammies but then Maddy put her sweater back on.Cute.

I got the cards in the dollar section at Target this year.
There were six so all of us wrote a letter.
I brought along stickers, pens, and washi tape so we could all decorate them the way we wanted to.

We finished the night with pie and then went home.
It was such a great day!
