Disney Movie Night: Tangled

For our Disney Movie night two weeks ago we watched Tangled.
For dinner we ate off of frying pans made from black paper plates.
We had spaghetti, braided breadsticks, and Pascal-green peas.
We drank "sun juice" from the Snuggly Duckling.

Then we decorated cupcakes for Rapunzel's birthday. After decorating they got to choose one to eat.

After dinner, they got to paint pictures of Rapunzel.

Maddy's finished picture...

Abi's picture... (she has since finished it but I didn't take any new pictures)

After painting the girls got to each use a set of blocks to build towers.

It was such a fun movie night!

Disney Movie Time: Honey, I shrunk the kids

For last week's Disney movie time we watched Honey, I shrunk the kids. We got some drinks and had small treats. The movie wasn't a huge hit with the girls but it was still fun.

Bingo at the library

One of my favorite things about living where we are living is that we get to have a really good library!
It seemed to take forever to be able to get our library cards.
I wasn't sure what we were going to use since we won't have utility bills (we are paying over what their normal bill is or half) and we didn't make a rental agreement.
The librarian told me a dr bill would work so I called the dr's to change our address knowing that it would only take a few days to get a bill. (I've been getting way too many of them this year. And sure enough, two days later, bill in hand, we went to the library and got our cards.
It is the coolest library.
They have an awesome selection, you self check, and to top it off it feels like home because it was my library as a teenager.
Last week we went over for their kid bingo event.
The girls were really excited but Abi wouldn't let me take pictures of her.
They won a ton of candy and one of the times Maddy won, she picked out this Hans button. Haha. This girl.
At the end they did blackout and we won 3 books! I didn't really know anything about most of the books they had and it was SO crazy with a million kids and moms descending on a book rack. Maddy wouldn't pick and told me to pick hers.  So Abi picked out the Cam Jansen book and I grabbed the other two hoping they will be good.

Disney Movie Time: The Aristocats

We missed doing our weekly (during the week) movie last week so we did it for Family Home Evening last night.
We watched Aristocats.
The girls had popcorn and pink lemonade and took turns cuddling with our little Marie stuffed animal.

Maddy made a drawing of the three little kittens and wrote "Aristocats" on it.

Disney Movie Night:Enchanted

It's that time again! Time to start up our Disney Family Movie Nights!
We don't have as much time before our trip to get in all of the movies I want us to watch. So this time we are doing a themed night every weekend and then another just for fun night or day during the week. I will label the themed ones Disney Movie Night and the weekday ones with Disney movie time.
I am posting these over on the Disney blog but I will also post them here for those of you not following it.

So, onto our first Disney movie night.
We watched Enchanted.

We made pizza for dinner. I wanted the fun of making the pizza but since we are still in the process of moving in, I also didn't want to make a huge mess. So we used refrigerated pizza dough for the first time. I didn't like it as much as homemade but Abi loved it.
Abi put on the pizza sauce....

I did the pepperoni and Maddy did the cheese.

We also had apple slices with caramel dip, "Apple-tini's", and "True love's" kisses.
It was all pretty sweet but it was fun. I stuck some edible silver glitter in the apple juice to make it look a little more fun.

After the movie, we played Disney Apples to Apples.

Doing a happy dance

We are done with the house!!

Last week I finally got all the boxes unpacked and now all that is left to be done is organize paperwork I put into a pile for filing.
I am SO excited to be done.
I spent yesterday morning putting together my summer schedule and organization plans.
I will share my system later this week.
This also means I will be working on implementing the blog schedule I planned on doing back when I started The Gingham Owl.
So stay tuned....

Snowbird

Last week we took a break from unpacking and organizing to go up the canyon to our favorite park at Snowbird.
It was perfect temperature. Not too hot, not cold. The girls had a great time.
Maddy even tried the monkey bars for the first time since they have a set of teeny kid ones.
And about 30 seconds and one bar after the below picture, she dropped and walked away. :)

The girls loved the swings they have there. They have four of these. They said it felt like they were on an amusement park ride.

Box castles

I promised the girls that when we moved in they could have at least one box each to play with. They will not play outside so my solution to this was to tell them they could make box castles but they had to do it in the backyard. This gave me at least 45 minutes of unpacking time but then Abi got too close to Maddy's box and the screaming began and in they came.

Last day of school

Abi's last day of school was also the high school graduation of my niece Mckenna.
I didn't want to miss graduation but I didn't want Abi to miss her last day of school because they were having parties and rewards. Plus we knew it was her last day at that particular school since we would be moving two days later.
So, Doug stayed home long enough to take Abi to school so that I could drive to Orem early enough for the graduation.
Maddy colored a lot while waiting for it to start.

I really don't know what is up with blogger but it's doing my pictures all weird and not letting me write in between them even when I go into HTML so... the pictures above are Mckenna sitting in the audience ( next to the third girl in yellow from the front of picture.), they do poses now for a camera before getting their diploma and you see it on a big screen, and getting her diploma.
We are so proud of her. She is a great kid.

As soon as she went across I decided we should go. There were a lot of kids and I was worried that once it was over it would take forever to get out of the university area with all the traffic. I knew I had about 35 minutes to drive back and had to be there before Abi got out of school.

So, Maddy and I left, went up the street to Krispy Kreme to grab a few donuts.
Then we headed home.
We got there about 11:30 so I thought I had an hour to pick up Abi.
However, the pickup system at that school is crazy and if you want a place in line you have to get there a half hour early.
So at 12 I drove over. Thank goodness I came home early and went over early.
Her teacher had told me early out was 12:30 but as I rounded the corner at 12:05 there were kids everywhere!
I pulled up to the side of the road across from the school and got out to walk across the street just as Abi came out the front doors. Whew!

Abi was so excited to be done with 2nd grade!
She got the M&M award in her class for "Marvelous and Magnificent Work" consistently.

She also got Student of the Month at her school.

We are so proud of Abi and the hard work she does at school. I am so excited for her to be home with us for the next few months! And looking forward to what next year and figuring out her new school program.

Memorial Day

On Memorial day we had two BBQ's. The first was at my sister's house in Saratoga Springs.
We were working at our house a bit that morning so I was already exhausted by the time we got there and it was SO hot. Then Abi was sad because I told her that there was going to be a slip and slide. And then there wasn't. I tried to tell her that it was cool. We would do it another day.
But my awesome sister and brother in law realized that she still wanted to do it and they went out and set it up.
It was so nice of them.
Dan and the teenagers working on the giant slip and slide...
Abi wanted me to take a picture through her sunglasses. They really do make everything pink!
I LOVE this picture of Abi.  To me, it just screams summer.
Maddy loved running around in the big grassy area..
Dan told Abi to try it out. Going down the first time...

Maddy refused to go down by herself so my sweet niece Mckenna spent almost every time taking Maddy down.

Courtney even pulled them a few times. Ha.

Then the teenagers wanted to do a posing contest.
I hung out toward the bottom and took pictures as they went past me...

Logan
Matthew fell over as he tried to pose..

And then this happened.

Soon it was time for us to leave. McKenna got Maddy to go down off her lap for one time before we left.
It was so much fun to watch all the kids having the best time.
